1. WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Now entering its 5th year of operations, The Social Outfit has employed 22 people from the refugee community to date, and engaged over 300 people in our fashion, sewing and other creative programs. Having moved to a new, more spacious site in October 2018, and with a new CEO on board since late April 2019, the Fundraising and Development Coordinator position offers a unique experience to join the organisation at a critical time to have a significant impact in our next phase of development. Through our distinctive ethical manufacturing work and Newtown retail store, The Social Outfit is committed to providing quality employment programs with women and young people from Sydney’s refugee and new migrant communities.
The Fundraising and Development Coordinator provides support with all aspects of fundraising and development activities for The Social Outfit including supporting donors, writing proposals and progress reports, researching opportunities, and coordinating all fundraising activities and meetings.
This newly created role is a fixed term contract that provides an opportunity to use and develop your fundraising or marketing experience in a unique, vibrant and pioneering social enterprise. The role is based in The Social’s Outfit Newtown store, where you will be interacting with our passionate, friendly team and the community we support on a daily basis. It will suit a dynamic self-starter interested in developing their career in fundraising, philanthropy or the not-for-profit sector.
This position is offered as a fixed-term contract to 30 June 2020.

3. SELECTION CRITERIA / SKILLS REQUIRED
Address each of these criteria in your cover letter:
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an administrative, marketing or fundraising team
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Passion for the mission of The Social Outfit, with particular interest in supporting refugees
Strong organisation skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
Ability to work with a wide range of organisations and individuals
Advanced IT skills including Microsoft applications, website and social media tools
Strong values and an ability to adhere to ethical standards
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
An affinity with issues faced by refugees and new migrant community
An interest in ethical fashion and/or social enterprise
An understanding of the not-for-profit sector principles of fundraising
