Working together towards our social mission: Our manufacturing and retail operations account for 70% of our organisation's activities. Our training programs account for 30% of our organisation's activities. We are fully accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia, which means that our operations are fully transparent and legally compliant. All of our employees receive wages and entitlements in line with Australian Awards, and work in a safe and ethical environment. We are a small and dedicated team, working in full and part time roles. During opening hours, there's always one or more of our staff on-site in Newtown. We also undertake work off-site, particularly in various parts of Western Sydney. We count many generous industry supporters within our extended team - find out more about the designers, brands and individuals who support our work. |

PARTNERSHIPS & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Kate Clugston Kate joined The Social Outfit in 2019 after a multi-faceted career in social enterprise fundraising, various women's wellbeing projects and community arts. She believes The Social Outfit provides two ways for you, our wider community, to contribute to positive social and environmental change that's aligned with your values. One is through consumer power, spending your hard-earned money in a pro-social way to signal your support of ethical, sustainable fashion. The other is through joining our Giving Circle, making a recurring or one-off donation to help fund our non-profit activities, providing training and employment to refugee and new migrant women. |

SEWING TECHNICIANS We employ women from the refugee and new migrant community as part of our sewing technician employment program, making all of The Social Outfit's garments and accessories on site. These are paid positions, and for the majority of our sewing staff represent their first job in Australia. These placements run from 6 months to 2 years, and are designed to transition people into external paid employment. Find out more about our community employment programs' impact. STUDENTS We offer community training programs in sewing and design free of charge for the new migrant and refugee community. Our sewing programs are often run in partnership with TAFE NSW, and our design programs are run in partnership with various settlement service organisations in Western Sydney. These programs usually run between 4-10 weeks, and participants acquire measurable new technical and interpersonal skills, as well as confidence and information to access further training or employment.
