Our manufacturing and retail operations account for 70% of our organisation's activities. Our training programs account for 30% of our organisation's activities.
We are fully accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia, which means that our operations are fully transparent and legally compliant. All of our employees receive wages and entitlements in line with Australian Awards, and work in a safe and ethical environment.
Camilla joined The Social Outfit as CEO in 2019, after a 20-year career in the field of international development and peace. Previously, she held the roles of Director of the Institute for Economics and Peace - which she led for the decade 2008 to 2018 - and Chief of the United Nations Office for Partnerships in New York from 2005 to 2007. Camilla has lived and worked in Africa, Europe, North America and Australia. She is a passionate promoter of the principles of multiculturalism, equity and social justice with a particular focus on migrant affairs and issues affecting children and young women.

Jessica Lee Parker
Jessica leads the day-to-day operations of The Social Outfit’s retail and online store, alongside Sales and Marketing work. Jessica also works with our community participants and artist supporters to develop The Social Outfit's collaborative prints.

SENIOR SEWING TECHNICIAN
Naw Esther Han
Naw Esther assists with the effective running of the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing workroom, and produces high-quality clothing and other products for sale by The Social Outfit.
Nicole leads our Retail Training Program, mentoring young people from the refugee and new migrant community as they develop skills and confidence for jobs in Australia's retail sector. Nicole also contributes to the day-to-day running of The Social Outfit's retail and online stores.
We employ women from the refugee and new migrant community as part of our sewing technician employment program, making all of The Social Outfit's garments and accessories on site. These are paid positions, and for the majority of our sewing staff are their first job in Australia.
These placements run from 6 months to 2 years, and are designed to transition people into external paid employment.
We employ young people from the refugee and new migrant community as part of our retail employment program, providing paid placements to learn retail skills and confidence in a supported Australian environment.
These placements run from 6 months to 2 years, and are designed to transition young people into external paid employment.
We offer community training programs in sewing and design free of charge for the new migrant and refugee community. Our sewing programs are often run in partnership with TAFE NSW, and our design programs are run in partnership with various settlement service organisations in Western Sydney.
These programs usually run between 4-10 weeks, and participants acquire measurable new technical and interpersonal skills, as well as confidence and information to access further training or employment.
