Thank you for your interest in our work! As a collaborative, creative organisation we look to partner and work with like-minded individuals and organisations where possible. At the same time, we’re a small team working hard to deliver on our social mission by creating quality clothing and products our customers will love. This means we need to be focused on where best to put our efforts.
On this page are some key questions we often get asked. If you have another question for us that isn’t covered here, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!

Does The Social Outfit accept financial donations?
Yes! All donations received via our website go directly towards our training and employment programs.
As The Social Outfit holds Deductible Gift Recipient Status, any donation made to us over AU$2.00 is tax deductible. You can make a donation via Paypal, Credit Card or Bank Transfer by clicking the button below. After payment is made, you will receive an official tax receipt of your donation.
Does The Social Outfit accept donations of fabric?
Yes! If you have access to quality clothing-production fabric or upholstery fabric that you’d like to donate to us, we’d love to hear more. Please contact our Sewing Trainer & Manufacturing Manager on 02 9550 3691 to discuss your offer.
Please note: we can’t take donations less than 1 metre in most instances. We also cannot take garments that have already been manufactured.
Can I donate a second-hand domestic or industrial sewing machine to you?
Unfortunately because of maintenance and repair costs, and ‘Workplace, Health and Safety’ considerations, we are unable to take donated sewing machines.
We suggest contacting Reverse Garbage, who can often take domestic sewing machines and can assess industrial sewing machines on a case-by-case basis. You can also contact your local council for other donation or recycling options.
Do you offer patternmaking, sampling and/or manufacturing services?
At present we are unable to offer external patternmaking, sampling and manufacturing services.
We are investigating expanding our professional services in the future, and will announce any changes to our manufacturing work here on our website.
Do you wholesale your products?
The Social Outfit creates products for sale direct to our customers. Our online shop allows us to send products to customers across Australia and the world.
At present we are unable to offer wholesale services.
I want to get involved – how can I do that? Can I volunteer with you?
First of all, thank you for your interest in volunteering or interning with The Social Outfit! We love that so many people are keen to support our work and care just as much as we do about community, diversity and ethical fashion! We currently have a full team of staff and volunteers and are unable to take on any more assistance at this time.
Here are a few other ways you can help us out, though:
Spread the word on social media! Share our campaigns, events and news amongst your networks. This is one of the most effective ways of supporting us.
Tell your friends about what we do. Word of mouth is hugely important for us.
Buy our products! We rely on sales to help keep our organisation thriving.
Inform us of what skills you have! If there’s something you specialise in, we’d love to know about it so we can contact you if we need a volunteer in that area. Specifically, we often require help with: language interpretation, event support, and transport.
Please email email@example.com with the subject heading “SKILLED VOLUNTEER” if you would like to share your talents with us. We’ll then hold your details on file, and contact you if an opportunity arises.
We’ll always share volunteering and job opportunities across our social media so make sure you follow us there.
Can I interview you for a student assignment?
As a small team, we unfortunately can’t participate in university or school assignments. We aim to keep our media page up to date and filled with information about our work. See also the links to the question below...
How can I find out more about you as a charity and social enterprise?
Read more about our impact to date on our Mission and Impact pages.
As a registered charity, you can also see our public documents on the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC).
Can I tour your workroom?
We aim to hold evening events at The Social Outfit every 4-6 months. These events are a great opportunity to see our work firsthand, meet some of our team, and hear more about our social enterprise. We can also try and answer any questions.
We’ll always share our events across our social media so make sure you join us.
