This milestone marks a significant moment for our organisation, with Ms Mostyn’s distinguished stature now lending support to our mission as our inaugural Patron. As a passionate advocate for social change, sustainability, and community empowerment, Ms Mostyn’s values align closely with The Social Outfit’s commitment to change. The Governor-General has been a long-time supporter of The Social Outfit and a frequent customer with the Board, team and community honoured to have her as Patron.

The Social Outfit’s Board Chair, David Hardie said it was an honour to welcome the Governor General as the organisation’s first patron. ‘The Governor-General has been a long term supporter and customer of The Social Outfit and chose to wear a custom-made The Social Outfit suit at her Swearing-in Ceremony last July. Her patronage is wonderful recognition of The Social Outfit’s work to support refugee women to kick-start their Australian careers’ said Mr Hardie.

The process of producing the custom-made suit for the swearing-in ceremony enabled further skills development for The Social Outfit manufacturing team, whose care and attention to detail is evident in the finishing of all our garments. 

We are excited to announce that the custom made suit we made for the Governor General has inspired the development of a new suit that will soon be put into production in our workroom and released in our Autumn Winter 2025 collection.

We look forward to working closely with Ms Mostyn as we continue to grow, innovate, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of refugee and new migrant woman here in Australia. We hope to see the impact of Her Excellency’s involvement as Patron in further strengthening our mission.
