Your support enables our team to deliver customised training and work readiness programs for refugee and CALD migrant women who are facing multiple complex barriers to employment in Australia.
“There is overwhelming evidence that employment provides the bedrock for successful settlement. The best way to help humanitarian migrants to build flourishing lives is to help them find work.”
Backed by research, The Social Outfit’s theory of change is that for women from refugee and new migrant backgrounds customised training and employment in a first Australian job provides a pathway to ongoing employment.
We focus our training programs on two key areas of employment - textile manufacturing and retail, both of which are realistic entry points into the workforce for refugee women and are currently on the National Skill Shortage list.
All funds raised for The Social Outfit through workplace fundraising activities, recurring donations, our annual Wear The Change campaign and major gifts, help us achieve our vision for an Australia where refugees and new migrants are warmly welcomed and settle well, celebrating our diversity and collective skills and strengths.
