Last year for our Spring/Summer collection, our community print project engaged a group of 11 migrant mothers from the Westmead community, with the help of the Westmead Public School Community Hub and guided by artist Kate Banazi and creative designer Sonya Price-Kelly to create three different prints.
Early last month, we celebrated the amazing journey and wonderful work of the 11 migrant mothers that participated in the project: Khyati, Manjushree, Qhamar, Sejal, Nisha, Vasupradha, Sovita, Snehal, Shyamala, Shraddha and Shilpashree.

Held in our Newtown shopfront, our community came together to acknowledge the group of women that shared their rich stories with us through their artwork.
The event first started with the group having a tour of the workroom to see where all of the garments featuring their prints are made!

We then gathered in the shop to present the group certificates for their participation in the program!

We also had Mark and Steph from Publisher Textiles who screen printed the fabrics as well as Artist Kate Banazi and Creative Designer Sonya Price-Kelly who facilitated the projects, speak to the process of creating the prints and working with the women.
We're so proud of our amazing Westmead Community Group and all the work that's gone into the print project. A huge thank you to the Westmead Public School Community Hub, Publisher Textiles, Kate Banazi and Sonya Price-Kelly for their contributions to the project!

A huge thank you to Taj Minter-Naughton who documented the event with his amazing photography!
