Earn and Learn Sewing Programs

In partnership with Career Pathways and Employability Skills - TAFE NSW.

Gain knowledge and experience in sewing to industry standards, applying quality control all sewing tasks and production processes.

Who is this program for?

To be eligible, applicants must have completed The Social Outfit’s Industrial Sewing Training first.

Open to women with Refugee, Humanitarian or Bridging Visas or new migrants who have arrived in Australia in the past 5 years. Must have work rights in Australia.

These classes are designed for experienced and skilled sewers.

You must commit to the full term.

Program details

Program Structure

  • Weeks 1-2: Training
  • Week 3-8: Paid work experience 
  • Week 9: Financial Literacy Workshop, Evaluation and Certificate presentation 

Pay

This is a paid work experience program. You will be paid the Australian Textile Award Rate as you learn how to make an item that will be sold at The Social Outfit store.

10am - 2pm

Location

Work experience in our Marrickville workroom. 65 Marrickville Road, Marrickville 2204.

What you will learn

Learn and practise job-readiness skills and practicing English in a work place setting.
